Much more awareness needs to be casted upon the epidemic of Human Trafficking. It is serious and it is real. It is our modern day slavery. The term ‘human trafficking’ in a broad sense referring to illegal trade of humans for the purpose of sexual and labor exploitation. Human trafficking is one of the most serious crimes in the world, second only to drug trafficking in terms of its magnitude. Nearly 250 years ago we were a budding nation fighting for freedom and then later fighting for equal rights for all, including woman and blacks. In a world with such a modern day society where there is such tolerance for things other than the ‘norm’, why are we tolerating something as horrific as this? Does it boil down to the almighty dollar? Something needs to be done and if I can accomplish anything monumental in the remainder of my lifetime, it will be to STOP the sale and abduction of ‘people’.
Some cruel facts about global trafficking.,
* one third of abducted children become child soldiers fueling armed conflicts. Whether
by armed forces groups or even government forces
* these children of 8-14 years old, are used for sexual purposes or as, messengers, but often as body deminers or suicide bombers.
*Some children are trained to massacre and torture, they perform these tasks with enthusiasm.
* The second cause of disappearance is sexual exploitation. In Europe, east countries are still the main empire for trafficking whose benefits exceed today, those of drug traffic.
A girl under 10 years is worth € 5,000 while a boy can reach € 8.000.
* Approximately 2.5 million people are trafficked in different parts of the world every year.
* almost 600,000 to 800,000 people are ill-treated by their bosses or masters.
* Almost 80% victims of human trafficking are female and around 70% of them are sexually exploited in the film industries, advertising industries, fashion industries and private organizations.
* Every year 1.2 million children are trafficked by different agents. The traffickers bring children and engage them in factories, mills and brothels. Here the traffickers recruit, transport, transfer children for the purpose of exploitation.
* 80 % of trafficked people are women and children.
* 127 countries being involved directly or indirectly.
* The global market for this activity is estimated at approximately $ 42.5 billion annually.
Human trafficking is a global issue. Although it isn’t broadcasted, the United States has issues with it to a lesser degree. Over the last few years, the problem of human trafficking in America has increased by massive proportions -
Some statistics:
* Between 14,000 – 18,000 people being trafficked within the country every year.
* Females are most often trafficked into commercial sex trade and domestic work.
* Most of the victims of human trafficking in the United States are people from Mexico and Southeast Asia, along with a few other countries from Africa and Europe.
* Between 2007 – 2008 a total 1,229 registered cases of human trafficking in the US. Out of that number, 1,018 were that of sex trafficking.
* In 2003, the law enforcement agencies all over the country arrested around 1,400 minors for prostitution, some of whom were barely 14 years old.
* Human trafficking is virtually reported in every single American state every year.
Any form of trafficking is a violation of human rights, and every state in the U.S. has had reports of this in the past 10 years. Whether in the United States, Asia, Africa, Latin America or Eastern Europe, child prostitutes have all the same symptoms. They are deeply traumatized, given diseases and marked by serious physical violence is the daily lot of these children socially excluded, abandoned or sold by their families.
All these children have a difficult relationship with the adult world they have known the domination and exploitation. If and when they escape the confines of their imprisonment they are struggle to reintegrate into everyday life with an enormous amount of emotional baggage. The sad fact is not everyone has the chance to escape or survive more than 3-4 years of this kind of imprisonment.
We need to stop ignoring this and be a part of the solution to these heinous crimes, Our children depend on us to protect them from all monsters. This subject needs more awareness People need to report any abnormal activity and while traveling with children, people need to be very cautious. Third world countries see tourists as dollar signs. To a native, making $ 7,000 to $ 11, 000 on a girl or boy is a lot of money. To us, as parents or family members, it is completely devastating. The worse the economy gets, the more prevalent these types of activities become. Scary but society is crying out for help and it is our responsibility to stand up for all the children of our world.
Somewhere in some basement cries a 12 year old girl. One that has been beaten, violated, drugged and raped repeatedly 24 hours a day. Somewhere in a military base is a 9 year old boy who is carrying a machine gun and being brain washed to kill with a smile on his face. And sadly sit’s a mother, father, grandmother, grandfather and siblings wondering, crying and losing their mind not even knowing where to begin with the search. First step is to approve the law to place chips within your child in effort to find them immediately. In my opinion it is the only way in a case like that to try to even attempt to find your child. GPS is used in animals, cars, cell phones and ipods, why not our most PRECIOUS CARGO, our children? You can replace your electronics, but not replace your children. A little more awareness goes a long way. There are many organizations trying to stand up to this cruel market, look them up on the internet and help in any way you can. You will be glad you did.

The statistics are heartbreaking and nothing short of a tragedy. It is true that as a parent it is unthinkable for me to put a price on my children, but for some the right amount of payment is enough to let their children go.
I’ve heard stories from my parents about families that strike deals with people to pay their way to America. In the end it’s never a win-situation and nobody gets their “free ticket” to America. Even though these stories may have taken place years and years ago I don’t doubt they still continue to this day.
There was a movie called “Taken” about a former spy who’s daughter gets kidnapped on a trip to Europe and drugged and made a part of a human trafficking operation. The girl was found and rescued in the end but sadly that’s not the case in real life.
Human trafficking is disgusting and needs to be stopped. It’s unthinkable what these people do to young children.
